East Rutherford, New Jersey – The New York Giants made a shocking move today, firing General Manager Jerry Reese and hiring local plumber Bill Smithson as their new General Manager. Mr. Smithson reportedly has no prior professional football experience at any level, playing, coaching or managing.
Says New York Giants Co-Owner John Mara, “I was on my way to the office the other morning, stuck in traffic, when I was listening to sports talk radio. Mr. Smithson called in to the show and everything he said about the team made perfect sense. He was very decisive and direct about all of the moves he would make to improve the team. I never even thought about trading a 5th round pick for J.J. Watt until he mentioned it, so I knew right then and there that I had to hire him as our new General Manager.
Other teams around the league are now turning their attention to sports talk radio to see if they can find their own diamond in the rough, because we all know how smart the people who call into sports talk radio shows are.
