For nearly a decade Abercrombie & Fitch has been blazing a stylistic trail. The iconic company known for real-life topless male models in their stores, have just taken their brand one step further. Late last week they announced they will be selling shmedium sized shirts – that’s a shirt that is a size between medium and small. This move has completely thrown the fashion industry for a loop. One fashion industry insider stated that, “They are going where no other company has gone before.”
Abercrombie & Fitch have a track record proving that they’re trailblazers in retail. Who can forget the time an employee dropped a case of assorted cheap cologne in their Manhattan store causing an emergency HAZMAT response. Abercrombie & Fitch had the presence of mind to turn that intense stench in to their signature store scent. Now one cannot walk through a mall without having watering eyes and a sneezing snoz thanks to Abercrombie & Fitch.
Two years later they hired topless male models to stand in their store’s windows and doorways. This move was brilliant as it caused lonely middle aged women, often referred to as Cougars, to come in purchasing gifts for the young window studs.
Their ability to think outside of the box and bring in new customers and continue to give their returning customers what they are asking for, is second to none.
